Dinosaur Birthday

What ho,
My tiny is 6 today! I can't believe shes 6 already.
She had her birthday party yesterday and, as I'm sure you've guessed,, it was Dino themed. I was quiet last week because I've been making Dino things for her party, but as the party's over i can share them with you.
Dino Party bags

I made party bags with dinosaur fabric. I also got lots of dinosaur themed things to go inside! (pencil, notebook, stickers etc). Each had a name label. When we went to Legoland Windsor i took pictures of Lego Dinosaurs. I printed some of these off and they were attached to the bags. That way we knew that everyone had their bag (and if they put them down who's it was) and tiny got to select which small plastic dinosaur each of her friends had!

Dino cake
Not the best cake in the world but Tiny loved it and enjoyed helping me with the green icing and silver balls. I used giant Yorkie chocolate buttons for the 'plates' on his back (OK i know its a T-Rex type Dino but i though it should have plates anyway!)

And finally

Tiny had a new dress for her party. She loves the plates down the back!

Well they had a good time, digging in mud and following dinosaur trails round the wildlife reserve  (party organised by WWT. I love that the party profits go to a good cause and they gave tiny a present - she's adopted a dormouse for the year. hopefully she won't ask if it can live at our house or if it can be pink!)

Running about!

On a different not i have made some more tooth monsters!

Its my legs they are resting on - i wore a skirt (a rare thing) as it was very very warm!

Tooth fairy

What ho,
Its the 4th of July. Happy fourth of July to any American types out there.
As a Brit I'm not entirely sure what I'm supposed to think about it, happy you beat us in a war day????
Well it was quite a while ago now, lots of water under the bridge and that. you know you'll be welcomed back if you ever decide you don't want to be independent any more. you could have some of our Royal family (we have plenty).

Anyway, i made something! Yes instead of sitting on my expansive bottom and doing nothing i sat on it and made something!

He he, got some more to make now!

A new shop in Birmingham

I had planned to blog this yesterday but I have a very busy day in the lab (the science one).

A new shop has opened in the Great Western Arcade (colmore row, Birmingham) just down from the lovely Sparklewren, who's boutique i discovered a couple of weeks ago.
 This is The Handmade Boutique

It has some fantastic home made gifts, soaps, children's clothes, bags, stationary, furniture, ceramics etc etc. My pictures do not do the pretties justice at all (but anyone who reads my blog knows my photography skills are lacking!)

Its a collective of 18 local independent designers and makers who have got together to bring their fabulous creations to the high street

There is something for almost everyone and i think i will have to shop here for birthdays! (and probably myself)
you can find them on facebook and on twitter (@HandmadeBoutiqu) and if your in Birmingham its well worth a pootle down to, you won't be disappointed and you probably won't leave empty handed.

Cake day

Last night was cake baking day
I made hubby a banana cake cos its his birthday today. He likes this sort of cake but wouldn't let me put candles in it! He's taken it off to work today and has threatened to eat it all himself! well, it would be 3 of his 5 a-day!

I also made 24 little sponge cakes (see how good they look when all poshly boxed up! there is a second box underneath but as it looks the same i didn't bother to snap that!)
These will get yellow butter cream tonight and a green frog
Bom bom bom, Bom bom bom, Bom bom bom bom bom. Win or lose, sink or swim, One thing is certain, we'll never give in
I made cakes like this last year (blog post) . Apparently both of my children had to go to the headmistress to show the cakes off and show the ladies in the office! (they have both been sent to the headmistress before, when they had their jubilee outfits on and their teachers thought they looked amasing).

I think the frogs are slightly more rubbishy this year but hay-ho, they'll only get eaten!
(The school jumper is yellow with a frog on so it looks like i've made an effort!)

In other news i had a folksy order! (WOW)
A crayon roll, in floral.
did i have one made up in floral - NO. pirates, trucks, sweeties yes but floral -NO
Cue me rushing about getting wadding cos i didn't have any and rushing to sew it up!
came out nice though!

The made in an evening dress

Hi all,
Well, we had a busy weekend. Tiny had her first dancing award presentation on Sunday. I asked which dress she was wearing and she suggested she NEEEEEEEEEEDED a new one!
We checked out the fabric cupboard and i remembered this

I picked it up at last years festival of quilts and it has finally been made into a cute dress, in less than 6 hours, complete with procrastination too!

complete with matching black and white buttons which I'd picked up at the same time as the fabric from the button company.
Tiny likes it very much but she enjoyed getting her balloon more! the award didn't excite her as much as her pink balloon!
yes, shes in pink pumps!

On a go slow.

Howdy,
I'm on a go slow. My get up and go hasn't just got up and gone it's packed its bags and left for good! Perhaps its having a nice holiday somewhere and didn't invite me!

I just seem to be flumping on the sofa most evenings and not moving.

Its been ages since i last blogged, I've missed my blogs birthday and every thing (but then again i managed to forget my own mothers birthday too! Sorry mummy)

So as a light reintroduction i have my birthday tee-shirt to show you - its from my best friend - please excuse the boobs!

(unless there is cake)
I finally made my friend (who's birthday is in march) her birthday present. I bought her the fabric and asked what she wanted making from it. A frilly apron she replied so this is what she got.
Its hard to see but it has frills round the bottom and along the top. a pocket which i managed to pattern match, and the reverse has a pink polka dot on.

The only other thing i managed to make was the 'stage' for tinys finger puppets (which I've been helping her to glue)

So, i have some alterations to do and then i have to decide whats next...... a skate dress for tiny or a birthday dress for my little niece (and yes her birthday has gone by but i did manage to send a card, almost on time!)
